Dr. Steve Houpe is Founder and Pastor of Harvest Church International Outreach in Kansas City, Missouri. Pastor Houpe and his lovely wife, Donna, have six beautiful children, Stephen, Justin, Benjamin, Darell, Christa and Jonathan. He is an Ohioan by birth. He served three years in the U.S. Navy and is a Vietnam Veteran. He holds a degree in Business Management and was ordained through Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also received a degree in Biblical Studies and was awarded a Doctorate of Divinity in 1989.
Upon graduating and ordination from Rhema Bible Training Center in 1986, he was led by the Spirit of God to begin a work for Christ in Kansas City, Missouri. As a result of him yielding to God, Harvest Church was birthed into existence. The vision that God has given Pastor Houpe for Harvest Church is to "restore lost humanity back to God." He believes it is the responsibility of the Church to win the lost to Jesus, to edify the Body of Christ and to minister healing to the total man. Harvest Church is an inter-denominational, multi-cultural church, where emphasis is placed on preaching and teaching the infallible Word of God. It is known as a "loving and friendly" church where “Jesus Is Lord…And We Love People.” Harvest Church is one of the fastest growing churches in the Kansas City area.
Pastor Steve Houpe is a humble servant of God, who speaks under the anointing of the Holy Spirit and brings about life-changing results. God has blessed him to author four encouraging books entitled, "Prayer, Fasting and the Anointing," "The Grace of God is Sufficient," "Help, I Want To Save My Ministry," and his best seller "No More Soul Ties." His newest release, “Becoming One Family: Bringing Blended Families Together,” is co-authored with his wife and is their testimony of the twists and turns of making two families, plus a few more, come together.
The messages that are ministered through Pastor Houpe are touching lives across the Kansas City area and abroad. Many lives have been changed by Pastor Houpe yielding to the Spirit of God through the ministry God has given him. All kinds of people, regardless of race, nationality, social-economic positions and all levels of education have received his teaching of the Word of God. Those who listen, receive, and apply what God ministers through Pastor Steve Houpe are victorious in their walk with God and strengthened to endure until the day of Jesus' return.
For 23 years, Pastor Houpe has impacted the Kansas City metropolitan area through various programs. Harvest Community Development Corporation, Inc. (HCDC) will carry out the community development plan called Project Destiny. Project Destiny is a multi-phased development project whose purpose is to meet the needs of the community by providing affordable housing, medical facilities, supportive services, educational opportunities and opportunities for entrepreneurial development. A sampling of the projects is listed below:
Faith Academy: A School for Leaders
Pastor Houpe’s desire is that children come to Christ at an early age, to the life of faith and power. He believes in ministering to the whole child - spirit, soul and body. His vision is to see children educated in a Christian environment with a strong emphasis in academic excellence. After much prayer and instruction from the Lord, Pastor Houpe was led to start Harvest Christian Schools (HCS) in 1990, now Faith Academy, where Mrs. Donna Houpe is the Educational Administrator. Faith Academy educates students from as young as 6 weeks through the 12th grade. Children receive excellent instruction combined with the Word of God. The educational emphasis is placed on the Abeka and Bob Jones Curriculum, which prepares the students for leadership that will impact future generations.
Harvest Bible Institute: A School for Priests
In flowing in the vein of educating God's people through the teaching of the Word of God, Harvest Bible Institute (HBI) was founded by Pastor Houpe in 1996. HBI’s committed purpose is to provide spiritual and practical enrichment in studying the Word of God. It is devoted to helping each student fulfill the commission and vision God has given to him/her.
Joseph Business School: A School for Kings
Pastor Houpe also believes in doing business until Jesus comes. In partnership with Joseph Business School, a program founded by Dr. William Winston, Pastor of Living Word Christian Center, Pastor Houpe opened an affiliate program in Kansas City, Missouri at Harvest Church International Outreach. Joseph Business School (JBS) is a faith-based entrepreneurial program which uses biblical principles and practical real-life business instruction delivered in a state-of-the-art environment to teach new and existing entrepreneurs. The school is designed to produce successful, anointed Christian entrepreneurs who are able to gain wealth, and help restore communities by creating income and employment opportunities for others. It is like no other entrepreneurial program in the area.
Mama Jo’s is a barbeque restaurant serving home-style food, which has been operational since 2001. Covenant Alliance of Ministries (C.A.M.) is a ministerial support to mentor and assist young ministers and ministries. Camp Destiny is an 80+ acre campsite and retreat nestled in the heart of the Northland “where vision meets purpose.” The Camp opened in July 2008. Destiny Towers is a safe, affordable housing complex for senior citizens over the age of 62. Leah’s House and the BUG Club are other projects of Project Destiny (listed under About Dr. Donna L.
